Hymenocallis ‘Sulphur Queen’ requires a minimum temperature of 15°C (59°F). Grow Spider Lily bulbs in containers of loam based compost such as John Innes No.2. Leave the neck and shoulders of each bulb above soil level and space them 20cm (8") apart. Grow spider lilies on indoors until all risk of frost has passed and they can be moved to a sheltered position outdoors in sun or semi shade.
Feed and water Hymenocallis plants regularly throughout the growing season. Move containers of spider lily plants to a warm, bright, frost-free position indoors before the first frosts. Reduce watering in the winter, making sure the compost remains just moist. When pots become congested, divide and re-pot Hymenocallis bulbs in the spring.
