Tubers are ideal for planting in containers and baskets. Plant Begonia tubers in small pots or trays of moist compost from February to March and grow on in a warm, frost free position. When Begonia plants are well grown transplant them into their final containers.
When all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise scented Begonias to outdoor conditions over a 7 to 10 day period. Choose a sheltered position and protect their delicate stems from strong winds. Feed and water plants frequently. Deadhead faded flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. When stems blacken with first autumn frost, remove tubers from their containers. Wash and dry the tubers then store over winter in peat or sand, in a cool but frost free position. Replant tubers in Feb/ March.
