Lily 'Red Carpet'

Lilium (Asiatic Lily)

Hardy Bulb

 Customer Review Rating
Scarlet red trumpet blooms smother the dwarf stems of Lily ‘Red Carpet’. Planted in close groups in beds, borders, and beside path edges, their vibrant colour and neat compact habit creates a really exotic display. Dwarf lilies also make a delightful cut flower. Height: 40cm (16"). Bulb size 12/14cm.

Choose a sheltered, sunny position in moist, free draining soil. Plant lily bulbs in autumn with the pointed end facing upwards at a depth of approximately 3 times their height and 15cm (6?) apart. When growing lilies, make sure that they are planted deep enough as this will protect the bulb during particularly hot periods. Alternatively, try planting lily bulbs in large patio containers in loam based compost such as John Innes No.2.
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. Deadhead faded blooms at the base of the flower where they join the stem to prevent the development of seed pods. After flowering leave the stems intact until they begin to yellow in autumn. This will help to feed the bulb for the following year. For the same reason it is vital to leave a third of the stem intact when cutting Lilies for indoor arrangements. A mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost should be applied in autumn.
We will do our best to ship your plants or bulbs to you at the ideal time for planting as stated against each product. We recommend that you prepare your soil, planting beds or patio containers ahead of time so you are ready to plant out, or pot on, just as soon as your order arrives. You will find the name of the variety printed on the top line of the address label on your package. Please ensure that you open the packaging immediately and carefully read through the instruction leaflet provided. For greatest success, please pot on or plant out as soon as possible, following the cultural instructions enclosed with your order.

The first time that I had grown lillies, and they made a magnificent display. I would certainly recommend and purchase again.
