Description How to Grow More Info Delivery Video
This regal fritillary produces crowns of golden-striped, bell-shaped blooms, nodding gracefully below a whirl of leaf-like bracts. With their tall, stately stems, Crown Imperials are ideal for the back of borders where their impressive height can be best appreciated. Plant Fritillaria imperialis 'Pinstripe' in groups for a striking and exotic late-spring display. The foxy aroma of the bulbs is also said to deter moles and rodents. Height: 100cm (39"). Spread: 30cm (12"). Supplied as bulbs.

Caution: irritant to skin and eyes. The fragile Crown Imperial bulbs should be carefully planted in September and October. Choose a position in full sun. Fritillaria imperialis prefers a fertile, free draining soil. The bulbs are particularly susceptible to rotting in wet soils so add plenty of grit and a little well rotted manure or compost prior to planting. Plant bulbs at a depth of 12cm (5") and 20cm (10") apart. Water well to settle the soil.
After flowering allow the foliage die back naturally. When leaves and stems have yellowed, cut them back to ground level.
