Pot up marigold plants into 11cm pots and grow them on in warm frost free conditions for transplanting into borders, beds and patio containers later on. When all risk of frost has passed, and plugs are fully rooted into their pots, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days.
Grow marigold plants in any well drained soil in full sun. Feed and water regularly. Deadhead faded marigold flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. Culinary note: Marigold flowers have a mild citrus flavour and can be added to salads, sandwiches and desserts.
