Mimulus 'Magic Rainbow'

A kaleidoscope of colourful orchid-like blooms make Mimulus ‘Magic Rainbow’ a superb summer bedding plant. Monkey flower plants are particularly useful for brightening up damp, slightly shaded borders where they will bloom from June to August. These compact bushy plants will also thrive in shaded containers and hanging baskets. Height and spread: 30cm (12").

Pot up monkey flower plug plants into 9cm pots and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When mimulus plants are well grown, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Transplant outdoors in fertile, well drained soil that remains reliably moist throughout summer. Choose a position in dappled shade, or a sunny spot with some protection from direct sun during the hottest part of the day.
Water mimulus plants regularly to ensure that the soil does not dry out. Deadhead faded mimulus flowers throughout the summer to encourage more blooms to be produced.
