  • Yellow droplet blooms on 'Summer Beauty'
  • Creamy-white blooms on 'Winter Beauty'
  • Grow both together for double the flowering season
Flowering through June to September, 'Summer Beauty' Clematis repens (The Twinkle Bell Clematis) produces multitudes of nodding, waxy yellow droplet blooms that flower among its rich foliage. Reaching 2m (6ft) high, it requires minimal pruning and its long stems are ideal for training through its winter flowering partner or a trellis or pergola. Clematis urophylla 'Winter Beauty' doubles the flowering season with a winter wonderland of colour. This rarely seen, winter flowering climber produces stunning, creamy – white, bell shaped flowers that adorn its luscious rich green foliage from December to February. Reaching between 4 and 5 meters (13-16ft) high it requires hardly any pruning. Planted side by side and twined as one, this superb double Clematis collection offers two seasons of colour and year round pleasure. Both Clematis supplied in 7cm pots.

2 x 7cm Potted Plants (V16339)

Pot up clematis plants and grow them on until large enough to plant in their final positions. When planting clematis, choose a position in sun or semi-shade and plant the climber deeply in moist, fertile, well drained soil. Position the top of the rootball at a depth of 7.5cm (3”) below soil level, to encourage new shoots to form from the base of the plant. Clematis dislike soils that are particularly wet or dry. Such soils can be improved by the addition of plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost. When growing clematis in patio containers use a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3. Train clematis plants onto a suitable support such as trellis, wires or a freestanding climbing frame.
Feed and water frequently throughout the growing season. This variety of clematis flowers in early spring on the previous year's growth. Pruning should be undertaken in summer, after flowering. When pruning Clematis repens, remove any damaged or dead stems entirely before cutting back the remaining stems to a pair of healthy buds to maintain the plant within its allotted space. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant in order to protect the roots and conserve soil moisture.

Van Meuwen strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.
