Aster dumosus
Hardy, vigorous and late flowering, these cottage garden favourites are perfect for adding colour to beds in late summer and autumn. With their naturally spreading habit, these perennial asters (or Michaelmas Daisies as they are often called), will quickly spread to fill the front of borders, at a time when many other flowers are beginning to fade! Height: 20 cm (8"). Varieties: Jenny (red), Prof. Anton Kippenberg (blue), Alice Haslam (pink), Snowkiss (white)
Plant in fertile, moist, well drained soil. When planting Aster dumosus, choose a position towards the front of the border in full sun.
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. In late autumn, cut back stems of Michaelmas daisies to ground level. New shoots will be produced in clumps the following spring.
