Penstemon 'Amelia'

Pot up plug plants into 9cm pots and grow them on in frost free conditions. When plugs are fully rooted into their pots, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days and transplant into borders and patio containers. Penstemon plants dislike cold, wet soils in winter. Plant them in a well drained site, adding compost or well rotted manure to amend heavy clay soils. Choose a position in full sun or semi shade.

Feed and water plants regularly until they are fully established. Cut back faded flower stems to encourage more blooms to be produced. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure around the crown of each plant in autumn or spring. Avoid pruning back old foliage until spring arrives, as this will help to protect the plant during winter.
