Plant bareroot roses at the earliest opportunity following delivery. If planting is not possible then 'heel them in' by covering the roots with soil until conditions allow them to be planted in their permanent positions. When growing roses, choose a position in fertile well drained soil in full sun. Roses are greedy plants so add a small handful of granular fertiliser and mix some well rotted manure or compost to the soil. Dig a hole of sufficient width and depth to comfortably accommodate the bareroot plant. Position the plant in the hole so that the base of the stems sits just below soil level. Backfill the soil around the roots of the plant, firm in, and water well. Stems of climbing roses will require training against a suitable support such as a pergola, fence or wall.
Feed and water roses regularly. Deadhead faded flowers. In autumn apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant. In winter, begin pruning roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged branches. Then reduce the stems to 20cm (10") above ground level. Side shoots should be reduced to two buds.
We will do our best to ship your plants or bulbs to you at the ideal time for planting as stated against each product. We recommend that you prepare your soil, planting beds or patio containers ahead of time so you are ready to plant out, or pot on, just as soon as your order arrives. You will find the name of the variety printed on the top line of the address label on your package. Please ensure that you open the packaging immediately and carefully read through the instruction leaflet provided. For greatest success, please pot on or plant out as soon as possible, following the cultural instructions enclosed with your order.
Lovely strong plants
By MAZ SHEPHERD 28-02-2017
Well so far we're really pleased at the lovely shoots of strong growth that are emerging from most of my collection of ten. Am eagerly awaiting the flowers, not sure why previous reviews say they colour is not good but we will have to wait and see. I use black baccara in florestry displays so very familiar with what the colour should be when they're in half bud. I don't get to see them when they're fully out as it's the bud I buy them for but they don't seem to have an abundance of petals so are probably not that full when completley out. Even if the colour is wrong then I have every confidence in the customer service team. They have always responded very well to any concerns which is why I continue to buy from this company.
Thank you very much for your review. I am glad that you have been happy with your purchase, and the service that you have received from us. I hope we can continue to be of service to you in the future.
