Plant bareroot roses at the earliest opportunity following delivery. If planting is not possible then 'heel them in' by covering the roots with soil until conditions allow them to be planted in their permanent positions. When growing roses, choose a position in fertile well drained soil in full sun.Roses are greedy plants so add a small handful of granular fertiliser and mix some well rotted manure or compost into the soil prior to planting. Dig a hole of sufficient width and depth to comfortably accommodate the bareroot plant. Position the plant in the hole so that the base of the stems sits just below soil level. Backfill the soil around the roots of the plant, firm in, and water well. To create a hedge, plant Bonica at a distance of 60cm (24") apart.
Water roses regularly until established. Deadhead faded flowers. In autumn apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant. Prune roses in autumn by initially removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged branches, then reduce the remaining stems by a third. In spring before growth begins, reduce the remaining stems by half again.
We will do our best to ship your plants or bulbs to you at the ideal time for planting as stated against each product. We recommend that you prepare your soil, planting beds or patio containers ahead of time so you are ready to plant out, or pot on, just as soon as your order arrives. You will find the name of the variety printed on the top line of the address label on your package. Please ensure that you open the packaging immediately and carefully read through the instruction leaflet provided. For greatest success, please pot on or plant out as soon as possible, following the cultural instructions enclosed with your order.
