Pot up salpiglossis plug plants into 9cm pots and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. Pinch out the growing tip of each stem to encourage branching and form a bushier plant which will produce more flowers later on. When salpiglossis plants are well grown, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Transplant outdoors in a sheltered position in full sun on moist, fertile, well drained soil.
Water regularly until salpiglossis plants are fully established. Support the stems with twiggy sticks or short garden canes. Deadhead faded salpiglossis flowers throughout the summer to encourage more blooms to be produced.
