Foliage is an essential element of garden design, adding texture and contrast, and creating a background for your flower plants to stand out against. Our great value foliage plants come in a range of colours and patterns, making them superb solo specimens in a patio container, or planted as part of a mixed border. Most foliage plants love a shady position in the garden - great for those awkward spots, where you can create a lush, leafy oasis.

Fascicularia bicolour

(Bromeliad)

  • Unusual addition for rockeries and containers
  • Metallic blue flowers
  • Rosettes of silver-green and scarlet red leaves
This eye-catching exotic Bromeliad makes an extraordinary sight in rockeries, alpine gardens and containers. Fascicularia forms spiky rosettes of linear, silver-green and scarlet red leaves with a central boss of astonishing metallic blue flowers. Surprisingly, this Chilean native is hardy to -10C (14F) when grown in very free draining soils, but will appreciate cloche protection during winter as it resents cold, wet conditions. Alternatively, grow Fascicularia bicolour in a pot that can be moved to a dry, frost free position over winter. Supplied in 13cm pot. Height: 40cm (16"). Spread: 60cm (24").

Truly spectacular half-hardy perennials, native to Madeira and commonly called the 'Madeira Cranesbill'. These stunning varieties of Geranium maderense bear white or pink flowers on multiple branching stems, making a really show-stopping summer display! Although flowers appear in the second year, the large, exotic, deeply toothed leaves make an interesting feature on their own, radiating from a stout central trunk. Geranium maderense plants benefit from some winter protection so are best grown in a conservatory or large patio container which can be moved to a frost-free location. Height: 150cm (59"). Venus Fly Trap

Dionaea muscipula

Found naturally in the wet savannahs and swamps of south-east USA this is one of the most popular carnivorous plants. The Venus Fly Trap lures its insect victims onto it’s ‘traps’ with the promise of nectar, before snapping shut around the insect, trapping it in a leafy prison. This intriguing plant is best grown on a windowsill or in a cool greenhouse. Dionaea muscipula makes a fascinating talking point and a most interesting plant to grow. Supplied in 9cm pots.
