Calystegia hederacea 'Flora Pleno'

Tender Perennial

This tender climber, related to Convolvulus (Morning Glory) makes an unusual feature for patio containers. Its plush, double pink flowers are produced throughout summer on vigorous twining stems. Calystegia can be invasive if planted in the ground, so it is best grown in patio containers which can be moved indoors for winter protection. Height: 1.8m (72") Spread: 1m (39") Bareroot plants supplied.

Caution: Harmful if eaten. Grow Calystegia plants in patio containers against a wall or onto a plant climbing frame. Plant bareroots in soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3 so that the crown of the plant is just a few cm below soil level. Water well and position on the patio, or in a greenhouse or conservatory in frost free conditions in sun or semi shade.
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. Train twining stems on their supports as they increase in length. Calystegia must be protected from frost. In autumn, cut back old stems and move plants indoors to a bright, frost free position away from cold draughts and radiators. Water sparingly in winter but do not let the plant dry out completely. Repot into progressively larger containers as the plant increases in size. Plants can be moved outdoors again in late spring when all risk of frost has passed.
