Transplant plug plants straight into hanging baskets, containers or window boxes filled with good quality compost. Water retaining gel and slow release fertiliser can be incorporated into the compost prior to planting. Water the plants well to settle the compost around the roots of the plant. When all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise hanging basket plants to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days. Choose a sunny or semi-shaded, sheltered spot for their final position.
Pinch back the stems while the plants are still young to encourage them to produce bushier growth and more flowers. Feed and water frequently throughout the summer to ensure an endless supply of flowers. Deadhead faded flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced.

I ordered 2 of the 20 plug plants. They should have been delivered by the end of April, but they got stuck in the May Bank Holiday weekend and arrived 2 days after the bank holiday Monday. They were in a terrible state. The Geraniums had hardly any soil and were so dry. I potted them on, although according to the description I could have planted them straight in a basket or container. If I had done that I would have lost the lot. I have now lost 10 of the Geraniums and 4 Fucshias and they are still in the Greenhouse, no baskets done yet. The ones that are left are still too small. I e-mailed Vanmeuwens and had a reply asking for my order number, that was on the 16th May and have heard nothing since. I spent £71 on orders, the Begonias had trouble and now these. Not Happy...

Out of the 20 plants I ordered only 2 look like surviving. On top of that the customer service is appalling with emails ignored, plants not delivered when stated.and plants far too long in the post. When the plants did arrive they almost dead, mainly due to rotting. So far Van Meuwen have not responded to my email. I will never use this firm again and will tell all my friends the same. And, Van Meuwen, please don't tell me to contact you as I did so on the 9th of May and have still not received a reply.
