On delivery of your bareroot Agapanthus plants please plant them at the earliest opportunity. Should soil conditions prevent planting directly into borders (if soil is frozen or waterlogged), bareroots should be potted up, watered sparingly and grown on in a cool position for planting out at a later date. Choose a sunny position in moist, well drained soil and work some well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Dig a hole wide enough to accommodate the bareroot with its roots spread out and deep enough that the crown of the plant is just a few cm below soil level. Backfill the hole with soil and firm the plant in gently. Water well to settle the soil. Alternatively, grow Agapanthus in containers using soil based compost such as John Innes No.3 and position in full sun.
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. Leave faded flower stems intact to enjoy their architectural qualities until they become blackened by frost. Border grown plants will benefit from the winter protection of an autumn mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost. Container grown plants can be moved to a frost free position over winter.

Van Meuwen strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.
