This dramatic variety boasts mounds of large, rounded purple-red foliage, with distinctive black veins that gradually age to a rich shade of purple. Prized for their outstanding foliage, these charming semi-evergreen perennials also produce sprays of dainty flowers on tall wiry stems which are particularly attractive to bees. Excellent for containers, the front of borders, or when planted in drifts as ground cover. Height: 45cm (18") Spread: 40cm (16"). Supplied as 45mm plug plants.

Pot up plug plants into 9cm pots and grow them on in frost free conditions. When plugs are fully rooted into their pots, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days and transplant into borders and patio containers. Heuchera plants dislike soils which are particularly dry or have a tendency to waterlogging. Plant them in a moist, well drained soil, adding compost or well rotted manure to amend heavy clay or sandy soils. Choose a position towards the front of the border in full sun or semi shade.
Feed, water and weed between plants regularly until they are fully established. Apply mulch of well rotted manure around the crown of each plant in autumn or spring. Lift and divide clumps of Heuchera every 3 years in autumn to maintain vigorous, healthy growth.
