The herbaceous border is a classic feature of English gardens and is a great way to achieve a cottage garden feel. Herbaceous plants die back in the winter and become dormant, before resuming growth in the spring. Our extensive range of herbaceous perennial plants offers excellent value for money, whether you’re looking for something tall and airy, wildlife-friendly or highly fragrant. Read our article on how to plant and grow perennial plants for more information.

Gaillardia 'Fanfare'

(Blanket flower)

Unique orange trumpet-shaped petals radiate from the pincushion centres, before fading to yellow in a blaze of summer colour. The sheer flower power and compact habit of this remarkable and unusual variety make Gaillardia ‘Fanfare’ a ‘must have’ for containers or filling gaps at the front of sunny borders. The distinctive blooms persist well into autumn, and make spectacular cut flowers for an indoor display. This low maintenance, hardy perennial is trouble-free and even copes well on poor, dry soils.
