Everything you need (except the compost!) to grow delicious strawberries - this collection consists of 16 runners of Strawberry 'Sweet Sensation', a Strawberry Planting Pouch, a Strawberry Growing Bag and a pack of Chempak High Potash Fertiliser - all for a great low price.
'Sweet Sensation' is one of the sweetest strawberries we’ve tasted! The thin skins mean they're too delicate for supermarkets to use so the only way to get them is to grow your own. This ever-bearing variety produces up to 1.2kg of glossy, red fruits per plant and with flushes of crops from June to October is a great way to extend the strawberry season. Strawberry 'Sweet Sensation' is perfect for growing in patio containers, window boxes and hanging baskets. Height: 20cm (8"). Spread: 30cm (12"). Supplied as bareroots.
Culinary information: Some parts of these flowers are edible. Click here for more details about edible flowers.

Plant strawberry plants in September or April in a sheltered, sunny position in well drained soil. Dig in a generous helping of well rotted manure. Plant one strawberry plant every 45cm (18") in rows spaced at 75cm (30") apart. Spread out their roots and place them in the soil at a level where the crown of the plant is just poking above the surface. Planting too deeply may cause them to rot! Alternatively grow strawberry plants in hanging baskets or in specially designed strawberry planters for the patio.
Water strawberries frequently throughout the growing season. Feed container grown plants every two weeks. Remove any runners that are produced in early summer as these will weaken the plants vigour. (They look like a long flexible stem with a baby plant at the very end). In May, place straw either side of each plant to protect developing fruit from slugs and raise fruits off of the ground. Place a net over the plants to protect your crop from greedy birds! After cropping remove netting and straw to allow better air flow around the crown of the plant. Mulch strawberry plants with well rotted manure every spring. Although strawberry plants will continue to fruit in successive years, the crop will become considerably reduced and it is advisable to completely replace plants every 3 years.
