Echinacea purpurea.

Well known for its use in herbal medicine, the large purple daisy like flowers of this hardy perennial, provide a wonderful display in late summer. The weather resistant blooms of the coneflower make an attractive cut flower. Make sure you leave some flowers for the wildlife in your garden; butterflies love their nectar and birds will flock to dry Echinacea seed heads at the end of the summer! An excellent choice for dotting through borders! Height: 90cm (36”). Spread: 45cm (18”) Supplied as bare root plants.

How to Grow
Echinacea - Purple Cone Flower

Grow Coneflower plants in a sunny or semi shaded situation.
Choose a position in moist, well drained soil. Echinacea plants prefer a deep, fertile soil so work some well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil prior to planting.
Aftercare
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season until Echinacea plants are fully established.
Deadhead faded flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced.
In autumn, remove old foliage and apply a mulch of well rotted manure to the base of the plant.
