Tall straight stems bear striking globes of tumpet shaped flowers in blue or white, above evergreen strap like foliage. An impressive perennial for a prominent position in garden borders and patio containers. For ground cover with supreme flowering ability this variety of an old favourite takes a lot of beating. They will tumble happily from cracks in walls, creep across rockeries, and crawl through the front of mixed borders. Forming dense mats of evergreen foliage with a profusion of spring blooms, these little plants thrive in reasonably poor soils with a toughness that belies their beauty. Easy and trouble free, with outstanding architectural presence! Graceful towering stems turn from dark green to lustrous polished black, by their third year. The Japanese Banana plant makes an outstanding specimen for a really exotic focal point. Grown for its lush paddle shaped foliage, this large herbaceous perennial sometimes produces creamy yellow flowers which are followed by clusters of tiny bananas. Unfortunately the fruit contain dozens of small black seeds, making them inedible.
