How to Grow
Polianthes tuberosa
- Plant tubers in pots during spring, at a depth of 10cm.
- Grow them on in a warm, frost free position.
- When plants are well grown, and all risk of frost has past, transplant Polianthes into their final positions in borders or containers.
- Choose a sunny position in moist, free draining soil.
- Tubers may also be planted directly into borders.
- Aftercare
- Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season.
- With the first autumn frosts, remove clumps of tubers from their positions. Keep any young offsets and tubers which have not yet flowered. Discard portions which flowered during the summer as these will not bloom again.
- Store over winter in peat or sand, in a cool but frost free position.
- Replant tubers of Polianthes tuberosa the following spring.
