Caution: Irritant to skin and eyes. Pot up Star Jasmine and grow on in warm frost free conditions until large enough to transplant into its final position outdoors. When Trachelospermum is well grown, gradually acclimatise it to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days before transplanting into fertile, well drained soil in sun or semi-shade. Choose a sheltered position that is protected from cold winter winds. In cold areas, Trachelospermum jasminoides is best grown in patio containers of loam based compost, such as John Innes No.3, that can be moved to a protected position over winter. Provide the twining stems with support such as trellis, wires or a free standing climbing frame.
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. After flowering, reduce the stems to restrict them to the available space.
