Aralia plants prefer a sheltered, dappled or semi shaded position away from strong winds that may damage the leaves. Grow aralia in reliably moist, rich-fertile soil. Work some well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil prior to planting to improve its fertility and structure.
Feed and water aralia plants regularly during the growing season until they are fully established. In autumn, cut back the old foliage to ground level and apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Lift and divide aralia plants in spring every fews year to maintain their vigour.
