Adam's Laburnum

Laburnocytisus 'Adamii'

Hardy Tree

An incredible deciduous tree featuring pink and yellow blooms on the same plant! This cross between Laburnum and Cytisus purpureus (Purple Broom) results in an abundance of elegant, pendulous pea-like blooms in shades of yellow, mauve-pink and sometimes salmon pink. These attractive flowers appear from late spring through to early summer. Hardy and low maintenance, grow this spectacular plant as a specimen tree to appreciate its unusual flowers from all angles. Adam's Laburnum is slow-growing so is an ideal tree for the smaller garden. Supplied as a 50cm grafted bare root.

Caution: All parts are toxic if eaten. Choose a position in full sun on moist, well drained soil. Incorporate plenty of organic matter, such as compost or well-rotted manure, into your border prior to planting. Plant bareroot Laburnocytisus 'Adamii' at the same depth as they were previously planted. Backfill the planting hole, firm in and water well to settle the soil.
Water regularly throughout the growing season until Laburnocytisus 'Adamii' plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant, taking care not to mound it up against the trunk. Adam’s Laburnum requires little pruning other than to maintain its shape and remove damaged stems. Remove any suckers that arise from the rootstock.
