A well known RHS AGM variety, Fuchsia 'Dollar Princess' bears double flowers in shades of cerise pink and purple. Daphne odora 'Aureomarginata'

(Daphne odora 'Marginata')

This hardy evergreen shrub makes a superb specimen plant for brightening your winter garden. The strongly scented, pale pink flowers brave the coldest winter months to provide a fantastic, fragrant display that lasts well into spring. Its glossy, elongated, dark green foliage has an attractive pale yellow edging that brings plenty of summer interest too. Masses of pretty pink flowers adorn the arching branches of this attractive, deciduous shrub. The panicles of white star-shaped flowers with pink-tipped petals are produced in abundance from late spring to midsummer and are highly attractive to bees. Berberis x lologensis 'Apricot Queen'

(Barberry)

A delightful strong-growing shrub becoming smothered in bright orange blooms in late spring, and flowering sporadically throughout the summer. Spiny evergreen leaves adorn the elegant arching shoots, making Berberis 'Apricot Queen' a particularly valuable shrub in the winter garden. The flowers, which are an excellent source of nectar for bees, are followed by subtle purple berries in the autumn. Robinia (Standard)

Robinia pseudoacacia 'Umbraculifera' (False Acacia, Black Locust)

Specially selected for its 'mop head' growth habit, this cultivar forms a ball of lush foliage on a clear stem. Pendants of fragrant white flowers followed by black seedpods adorn this attractive tree in summer. This hardy deciduous specimen is ideal for borders and large patio containers, and will even survive in poor, dry soils. Physocarpus opulifolius 'Diabolo'

(Ninebark)

This stylish deciduous shrub is mainly grown for its beautiful rich purple foliage. Corymbs of dainty white flowers with a hint of pink appear along arching branches in early summer, making a striking contrast to the dark foliage. Distinctive, glossy red seed heads follow, persisting well into autumn where they gradually fade to brown. When plants reach maturity the bark peels away in layers giving rise to the common name 'ninebark'. Winner of a prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit, Physocarpus opulifolius 'Diabolo' is a stunning addition to a shrub border, where it looks particularly good partnered with lime-green foliage plants.
