This perennial herb is really tough, withstanding temperatures down to -30C (-22F)! Cultivated for its large white tapered root, fresh horseradish can be grated to make the popular condiment horseradish sauce, or to add a tangy bite to coleslaws. The young leaves can even be added to salads. Harvest the main root, and one or more large offshoots can be replanted to produce next year's crop. Horseradish has a vigorous habit so it is perfect for growing in patio bags to contain its spread. Height: 60cm (24"). Spread: 45cm (18"). Size 1 roots supplied.

Plant Horseradish roots in the patio bags provided using a good quality compost. When planting Horseradish roots, set them upright in the soil so that the crown of the root sits level or just above soil level. Firm the roots in and water well. Place the bags in a sunny position.
Growing horseradish is easy. Apart from watering, require little attention throughout the growing season. Lift Horseradish plants in autumn to harvest the main root. Reserve a couple of offshoots from the main root and replant these immediately for next year’s crop.
