Its flowerheads are made up of many blue florets, while each petal is adorned with an eye-catching purple stripe. Plant Agapanthus in a sunny position in moist, well drained soil. Water well to settle the soil. Alternatively, grow Agapanthus in containers using soil based compost such as John Innes No.3 and position in full sun.
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. Leave faded Agapanthus flower stems intact to enjoy their architectural qualities until they become blackened by frost. Border grown plants will benefit from the winter protection of an autumn mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost. Container grown Agapanthus plants can be moved to a frost free position over winter.
