Plum-purple blooms give this alluring perennial a distinctive appearance from other African Lilies. Agapanthus inapertus 'Midnight Cascade' produces exceptionally dark flowers throughout the summer, above a neat clump of strap-like foliage. If you can bear to cut a few blooms, this deciduous perennial makes an intriguing cut flower. When planted in generous groups, it makes useful ground cover and adds texture to planting schemes. Perfect for patio pots or dotting throughout sunny borders. Height: 70cm (27"). Spread: 45cm (18").

Pot up agapanthus plants using a good quality compost, and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outside. Once they are well grown, acclimatise African Blue Lily plants to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before planting out on rich fertile, well drained soil in full sun.
Feed and water African Blue Lilies regularly throughout the growing season. Leave faded agapanthus flower stems intact to enjoy their architectural seed heads during autumn. When the first frost blacken the seed heads, cut the stems back to ground level. Protect plants outdoors from severe winter weather by providing a dry mulch of bark chips or straw in late autumn. Container grown plants can be moved to a frost free position over winter. Divide agapanthus clumps in spring when they become over crowded.
