Unlike any fern you've seen before, Asplenium scolopendrium 'Cristata' is an unusual variant of the Hart's Tongue Fern, a British native plant. Each of the narrow glossy leaves has numerous divisions at the leaf tip, forming a crested, bushy appearance. This small evergreen perennial will thrive in a damp shady spot but will also tolerate dry shade once established. Unfussy and easy to grow, plant Asplenium scolopendrium 'Cristata' at the front of borders or in shady patio containers for vibrant texture all year round. Height and spread: 45cm (18").

Grow Hart's Tongue Ferns in moist, well drained, humus rich soil in partial or dappled shade. Asplenium scolopendrium will tolerate most soils but prefers alkaline conditions.

Asplenium ferns require virtually no maintenance and will look after themselves once established.
