Showers of petite, rose-pink single flowers with pretty yellow centres hang in clusters against an attractive backdrop of unusual maple-like foliage. Begonia 'Pink showers' is particularly free flowering, blooming constantly throughout summer and well into autumn. This stunning trailing begonia makes a magnificent display in containers or spilling from hanging baskets and window boxes. Height: 25cm (10"). Spread: 60cm (24").

1 Packet (20 Seeds) (26619)

Sow begonia seeds from mid January to mid March at 24-27ºC (75-80ºF), on the surface of a good quality seed compost and gently firm down. Keep the soil damp but not wet and do not exclude light. Place in a propagator or seal the seed tray inside a polythene bag until after germination, which usually takes 15-60 days. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and grow them on in cooler conditions until large enough to plant outdoors.

When begonia plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Transplant outdoors in sun or dappled shade on fertile, well drained soil at a distance of 20cm (8") apart.

CAUTION: Begonia seeds are dust-like. To open packet, hold over a sheet of white paper, cut along three sides of the inner pack and carefully open out flat. Tap the packet gently to dislodge the seed.

Feed and water plants frequently throughout the growing season taking care not to over-water, as this will cause new flower buds to drop. Deadhead the single female begonia flowers to encourage more of the large double male flowers to be produced and to extend the flowering period.
