Create your best ever summer display with this collection of four fantastic begonia varieties. They’ll jostle for attention in your beds, baskets, containers and window boxes, painting your garden or patio a myriad of vibrant colours from July right through to October. Asking little in return, these versatile varieties will light up even the shadiest of corners. As a bonus, the edible petals are perfect for adding a splash of colour, lemony flavour and crisp texture to salads and sandwiches. What’s not to love!

Begonia Tuber Collection comprises 40 tubers of the following varieties:

  • Begonia ‘Pendula Mixed’ (10 tubers) – spectacular trailing begonias with pendulous stems smothered in enormous double flowers all summer and into autumn. The gently tumbling stems are perfect for filling hanging baskets and containers with flamboyant colour for a show-stopping display.
  • Begonia ‘Non-Stop Mixed’ (10 tubers) – fully double flowers in a boisterous array of shades that jostle for attention in containers, beds and borders. With weather resistant blooms, these long-lasting tuberous begonias will keep flowering well into autumn – long after most summer-flowering plants have faded.
  • Begonia ‘Double Flowered Mixed’ (10 tubers) – perfect rose-like double blooms in a mixture of stunning bold shades.
  • Begonia ‘Fringed Mixed’ (10 tubers) – unusual blooms with crimped edges, resembling large carnations, are produced on sturdy plants throughout summer in an array of vibrant colours.

Height and spread for all varieties: 30cm (12").

40 Tubers (10 Of Each Variety) (KF0211)

Tubers are ideal for containers, making a larger plant in the first year than plug plants or growing from seed. From February, start begonia tubers off in well-drained, moist compost in a warm, frost-free position in bright light. When planting begonia tubers, position them just below the compost surface with the indented side facing upwards. When begonia plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days, before planting them in their final positions. Choose a sunny or semi shaded position that is protected from strong winds.
Feed and water plants frequently throughout the growing season taking care not to over-water, as this will cause new flower buds to drop. Deadhead faded blooms regularly to encourage more vibrant begonia flowers to be produced and to extend the flowering period. At the end of the growing season the leaves and stems will yellow and fall off naturally. Reduce watering to prevent begonia plants from rotting at this stage. When the stems have all dropped away, dig out the tubers. Clean and dry them before storing them away in peat or sand at 7-15°C (45-60°F) until they can be replanted next February.
