This pretty evergreen tree is perfect for beginners in the art of Bonsai. Also known as the Chinese Sweet Plum, ‘Sageretia’ is a subtropical evergreen shrub with a tight canopy of shiny, oval leaves. Over time the trunk develops attractive bark that sheds to reveal a pattern of pale brown patches beneath. In late summer, yellowish flower panicles are sometimes produced, followed by tiny, plum-shaped blue fruit. This exquisite bonsai tree is full of character and to finish its oriental look it comes ready-planted in a traditional glazed ceramic saucer. Bonsai ‘Sageretia’ makes a charming table decoration or window ornament for a bright room.

These Bonsai Trees are best grown in a bright position indoors, away from the direct glare of strong sunlight. Avoid positions that are close to radiators and doorways where they will be affected by cold draughts. Generally, these trees will prefer a cool room such as a spare bedroom, home office or conservatory. In summer, they may be gradually acclimatised to outdoor conditions, and subsequently moved onto the patio if you prefer. Be sure to re-acclimatise them to indoor conditions again in early autumn, so that they can be kept frost free indoors during winter.
