Bred in the UK especially for summer harvesting, plants need no vernalisation (winter chill) to produce the tasty purple spears. Good tolerance to heat. Height: 90cm (35"). Spread: 60cm (24").

  • Sow outdoors in spring at intervals, thinly in a prepared seedbed, 12mm (1/2in). Keep watered during dry weather.
  • Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle, around 5 weeks from sowing, allowing a minimum of 60cm (2ft) between plants in the row, and 75cm (30in) between rows.
  • Firm in well and keep watered until established. use netting to protect from pigeons and cabbage caterpillars.
  • Harvest from June to November by snapping off the flowering shoots before the flowers open. Do not remove the large leaves as these will protect the next batch of shoots.
  • Broccoli contains many healthy antioxidants such as pro-vitamin A and vitamin C, and is also a good source of iron and folic acid.
