For those who wish to begin their Christmas festivities in the early autumn, Brussels Sprout 'Bedford Fillbasket' is a must-have. From September until December, this hardy annual produces large quantities of sizeable, green vegetables. The flavour of these Brassica oleraces is second to none and earns them a place both in your garden, alongside pest-deterrent plants such as mint, and on your plate! Height: 75cm (2'6"). Spread: 50cm (1'8").

1 packet (75 Brussels sprout seeds) (TKA54025)

  • Sow outdoors in spring at intervals, thinly into a prepared seedbed, 1cm (1/2in) deep in drills 30cm (12in) apart.
  • Thin-out seedlings when large enough to handle, to 10cm (4in) apart, then later transplant to their final position, 75cm (30in) between plants.
  • Keep watered until established.
  • Harvest from early autunmn to the end of the year.
  • Sprouts are rich in pro-vitamin A and the B vitamins, and they contain more vitamin C than any other vegetable
