This elegant house plant really does have the 'wow' factor! Glossy, dark green leaves are striped with pale pink markings, and each leaf has a contrasting purple underside. The colourful foliage of Calathea ‘Sanderiana’ makes this a superb focal point, bringing an exotic feel to a lightly shaded spot indoors. Perfect for the conservatory or a warm living room. Group it alongside other Calatheas for a dramatic display of tropical foliage, or grow it as a stand-alonbe specimen plant. Height and spread: 60cm (24").

Position Calathea in a warm room away from cold draughts and radiators, with a constant temperature above 16C (60F). Average room temperatures of 18C (65F) - 24C (75F) are preferable. Calathea require a bright but lightly shaded spot, well away from the direct glare of the sun.

Water Calathea freely between spring and autumn using tepid rainwater where possible, and allowing the pot to drain well after each watering. In winter, reduce watering but do not allow the compost to completely dry out. House plants should be fed regularly between March and September when they are in active growth. Calathea appreciates a humid atmosphere - stand it on a tray filled with pebbles and water. As the water evaporates it will increase humidity around the plant.

Seeds and garden supplies will normally be delivered within the time period stated against each product as detailed above. Plants, bulbs, corms, tubers, shrubs, trees, potatoes, etc. are delivered at the appropriate time for planting or potting on.
