Description How to Grow Delivery

The longest flowering and best double flowered calendula. Bushy plants produce luminous orange, large, frilly blooms all summer, ideal in sunny borders and pots. Height: 25cm (10"). Spread: 25cm (10").

Culinary information: Some parts of these flowers are edible. The light peppery taste of the flowers can be added to breads for extra flavour with a touch of colour. Sow outdoors March/May where they are to flower. Prepare the ground by raking to a fine tilth before sowing.
Sow 12mm (1/2in) deep, in rows 30cm (12in) apart.
When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 20cm (8in) apart.

For spring/summer flowering pot plants

Sow in a cool greenhouse or conservatory in late summer/early autumn.
Overwinter in full light and water sparingly. Transfer to containers and bring outdoors May/June.
The petals are edible, and can be used as a substitute for saffron.
