Description How to Grow Delivery

Callaloo is a Caribbean spinach which not only tastes fabulous but looks good too. These Amaranthus species are fast and easy growing greens. Plants will exhibit varied characteristics, some developing coloured leaves in green, yellow, and red shades. In late summer they all produce tall, green flower-spikes which develop into interesting seed heads. Bring a bit of the West Indies into your garden and mash up a dish of Jamaican Callaloo cooked with tomatoes, garlic, and chillies! Height: 120cm (4’). Spread: 60cm (2’).

This plant is half-hardy and must be protected from frost. Pot up plug plants and grow on in a frost free place. Acclimatise to outdoor conditions over 7-10 days and plant outside after all risk of frost or house in a greenhouse or conservatory in containers. Grow in a sunny position and keep well watered. Harvest leaves regularly.
