Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

Trumpet Vines aren’t particularly known for their compact growth, but recent breeding has changed all that. Our Campsis Duo combines two carefully bred varieties which reach just 1.5m (5’) tall, making them much more manageable than most of their predecessors. Their exotic, trumpet-shaped blooms are produced freely on compact, bushy plants – what more could you ask? These hartdy climbers enjoy a sheltered, sunny position in the garden, but also make fabulous conservatory plants for a container. Height and spread: 1.5m (5').

Campsis Duo comprises:

Campsis x tagliabuana 'Trumpet Fire' - Red-orange blooms are borne on compact twining stems throughout summer.
  • Campsis x tagliabuana ‘Indian Summer’ - Lush foliage and effervescent orange blooms.
  • Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Although Campsis are fully hardy, they will perform better when grown against a warm, sunny wall for added protection and better flowering performance. Plant into moist, but well-drained soil in a sunny position. Alternatively, grow Campsis plants in patio containers using soil based compost such as John Innes No.2, and add extra grit for drainage.
Once Trumpet Vine plants are established in the border, they will prove to be drought resistant. After planting your Campsis, cut back all stems to 15cm (6") from the ground, to stimulate new growth. Train the strongest new shoots, and remove weaker shoots. After 2 or 3 years, a framework will be established, and you should prune back sideshoots to within 2 or 3 shoots of the main stems. Prune in late winter.
