Description How to Grow More Info Delivery
The stunning Canna 'Tropicanna' is a tender perennial which has the ability to transform a garden into a tropical paradise. Its exotic red, gold and green multicoloured foliage flourishes in warm conditions. This sun-loving plant also produces brilliant tangerine and orange coloured flowers from June through to October. Whether planted in a border, beside a pond or in patio pots and containers, this is a stunning feature plant that is sure to catch the eye of gardeners and visitors alike. Furthermore, its rhizomes can be dug up and stored over the winter months to protect it from frost, ensuring that the Canna 'Tropicanna' remains magnificent for many years. Height: 150cm (60"). Spread: 50cm (20"). Supplied as a plug plant.

Culinary information: Canna lily rhizomes can be eaten raw and have a taste similar to water chestnut, although sometimes bitter. They can also be boiled and baked, the same as a potato and have a similar texture and taste. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Pot up Canna plug plants and grow them on in warm, frost free conditions until large enough to plant in their final positions. Gradually acclimatise Canna plants to outdoor conditions over 7-10 days before planting them in borders, beds and containers. Grow Cannas in fertile, moist, well drained soil in a sheltered, sunny position.
Feed and water freely throughout the summer and deadhead regularly to encourage more blooms to be produced. In late autumn, cut back the old foliage before lifting the rhizomes and storing them in barely moist peat, in frost free conditions. Rhizomes can be replanted in spring for another fabulous display.

Van Meuwen strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.
