Looking as though each blade has been touched by frost, Carex morrowii 'Variegata' has slender strap-shaped leaves edged in white. With a tidy clumping habit, this hardy evergreen sedge is fantastic for edging paths or planting in drifts through perennial borders. Carex morrowii 'Variegata' also works well in patio containers and can be used in winter bedding schemes for foliage interest. Sedge is excellent for shady gardens, preferring the cool, moist conditions. Height: 30cm (12"). Spread: 35cm (14").

Grow Carex plants in any fertile, moist, well drained soil in sun or semi shade. Avoid positions that are prone to extremes of wet or dry.

Carex requires little maintenance once established. Old growth can be combed out with your fingers in winter to make way for fresh growth in spring.
