1 packet (1100 carrot seeds)Save £0.80 £1.69 £0.89 Out of Stock
Description How to Grow Delivery
If you thought all carrots were the same, think again. Daucus carota produce outstanding vegetables with a crunchy texture and a sweet taste. These roots are fairly compact, measuring approximately 15cm (6") each, but with virtually no core, pack in plenty of vitamins, minerals and flavour. If kept in a greenhouse, the hardy annual seeds can be sown in the late winter to produce an early crop. Alternatively, Carrot 'Nantes 2' can be planted in a vegetable garden alongside spring onions, leeks and mint to ward off root fly. Height: 30cm (1'). Spread: 15cm (6").

Sowing Months Harvest Months
  • Sow outdoors from late-winter to mid-summer. Sow thinly in a prepared seedbed, 1cm (1/2in) deep in drills 30cm (12in) apart.
  • Thin-out seedlings when large enough to handle, and transplant to 10cm (4in) apart. This helps to reduce the risk of carrot root fly attack.
  • Later thinnings will provide smaller, tender roots, large enough to be used.
  • Can also be sown under cloches January/February for earlier cropping in late spring.
  • Carrots are high in antioxidant beta-carotene, which the body can convert to vitamin A.
