Masses of fully double, pink blossoms smother the bare stems of this Dwarf Flowering Almond in mid to late spring, before the leaves appear. Unlike many ornamental cherries, Prunus glandulosa 'Sinensis' is a compact, rounded shrub, ideal for small and low-maintenance gardens. Easy to grow, this Prunus looks fabulous planted as a specimen shrub, as part of a mixed border, or under-planted with early spring bulbs for a spectacular spring show. Height and spread: 1.5m (5'). Supplied in 9cm pots.

Water Prunus plants regularly until fully established. Prunus glandulosa 'Sinensis' requires little attention. Simply remove any diseased, damaged or crossing shoots to maintain a healthy framework. When pruning cherries it is preferable to wait until midsummer to avoid the risk of 'silver leaf' infection. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of Dwarf Flowering Almonds in spring, taking care not to mound mulch up against the stem.
Plant flowering cherry trees in full sun or semi shade, in any well drained garden soil. Plant at the same level as the plant is in its pot. Add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost prior to planting to improve heavy clay or light sandy soils.
