Description How to Grow More Info Delivery
This elegant winter flowering shrub is perfect when grown in borders near the house or against a house wall, so that you can appreciate its exquisite perfume. The fragrant, pendulous, sulphur- yellow blooms appear in the dead of winter while most other plants are lying dormant. You can also cut the twigs to bring the exquisite fragrance into your home. Your Wintersweet plant may take a few years to establish, but it is well worth the wait. Height: 4m (12’) Spread: 3m (10’).

Flowering Months
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants become established. Prune Wintersweet shrubs in spring, immediately after flowering. Remove any damaged or diseased stems and lightly shape the plant. After pruning, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant.
Grow Chimonanthus plants in borders or against walls in any fertile, well drained soil in full sun. Although Wintersweet plants hardy, the young stems can be damaged by hard frosts, so choose a sheltered position to protect the plant. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Your plants may be slow-growing until they become established in their new position.
