This attractive climbing variety of bean, displays pretty mauve flowers, followed by bumper crops of long, rounded, stringless pods with a rich green colour and a superb flavour. Beans can be harvested from June until October depending on sowing times. Height: 180cm (70"). Spread: 30cm (12").

  • Sow seeds indoors April-May for transplanting outdoors after all risk of frost, late May to June.
  • Alternatively sow direct outdoors May to July in warm soil that has been raked to a fine tilth.
  • Sow 2 or 3 seeds 4cm (11/2in) deep, allowing 20cm (8in) between each group of seeds and 45cm (18in) between rows with no need to thin out.
  • Gradually acclimatise indoor grown plants to outdoor conditions for a few days before planting out after all risk of frost, against canes or netting.
  • Mulch during dry periods.
  • Harvest beans from June to October.
  • Climbing Beans are a good source of pro-vitamin A, vitamin K, and folic acid.
