Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

This elegant small tree or spreading shrub makes a graceful picture in spring when its light framework of pendulous, spreading branches are festooned with luminous white flowers. The flowers are composed of four large white bracts, often tinged green/pink, surrounding a central green boss. Each one measures 6 to 10cm in diameter. Large, glossy, dark green leaves offer another season of interest in the autumn when they turn vivid shades of red and purple. One of the most beautiful flowering trees, Cornus nuttallii ‘Ascona’ makes a rewarding choice for the back of a border or as a stand-alone feature. Height: 5m (16.5ft). Spread: 6m (20ft).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

1 x 15 Litre Potted Plant (KF3150)

Grow Cornus trees in rich fertile, well drained, neutral to acid soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil to improve drainage and soil fertility. Plant dogwood trees in a sunny or semi-shaded position.
Feed and water flowering dogwoods regularly until fully established. Once established, Cornus trees require only occasional attention. Pruning dogwood is best kept to a minimum, removing only occasional damaged stems and lightly trimming those that spoil the shape of the plant in late winter or early spring. As the tree matures the lower branches can be removed to create a clear trunk. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or other organic matter around the base of the plant in spring.

Van Meuwen strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.
