Description How to Grow Delivery Reviews
Cress is among the easiest and most productive vegetables to grow, and this 'Extra Curled' variety produces an especially satisfying yield. The hardy annual, which is also known as Garden Cress, Curly Cress or Peppercress, can be sown outside in a sunny vegetable garden. Alternatively, you could plant it indoors in order to escape the unpredictable climate. Lepidium sativum makes for a healthy and tasty addition to salads as well as a good garnish and crunchy sandwich filling.

Sowing Months Harvest Months
  • Sow at any time of the year. Place 4 layers of kitchen paper on a saucer and wet it, allowing any excess water to drain away.
  • Sprinkle the seed thinly on the paper and place the whole saucer into a polythene bag and seal it.
  • Put into a warm, dark place and check regularly.
  • When seedlings are about 1cm (1/2in) high, bring into the light, a windowsill is ideal. Your cress will be ready within 10-12 days from sowing.
  • To grow mustard and cress together, add the mustard seeds 3 days after sprinkling the cress seeds.
  • Children will love growing cress inside an empty eggshell upon some damp kitchen paper, with a face painted on the side of the egg. The cress will grow and look like hair!
