Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

This petite dahlia is perfectly proportioned for container growing or positioned at the front of borders, where it will provide brilliant red, fully double flowers, 12cm across, set against deep green foliage. Use them to brighten the patio with Mediterranean colour or combined with cannas and purple foliage as part of a tropical themed border. However you use them they will flower continuously through summer and into autumn, when other flowers are fading, holding their blooms on well-branching plants which won’t require staking. Height and spread 50cm (20”).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Pot up Dahlia plants and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise dahlia plants to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before planting out in beds, borders and containers. Choose a position in full sun on any rich fertile, moist, well drained soil.
Feed and water dahlias regularly throughout the growing season. While dahlia plants are still young, pinch out the growing tip of each stem to encourage bushier growth and masses of flowers. Deadhead faded dahlia flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. Bedding dahlia are generally grown as annuals, however dahlia tubers may be lifted in autumn and stored over winter in trays of peat or sand, in a cool but frost free position if required. They can be potted up the following spring.
