Add perfume and colour to your garden with this rare, yellow-flowered, deciduous daphne. Slow but steady growing, this is a bushy shrub with lush green foliage that is covered with pretty clusters of yellow flowers from late spring to summer. Bees and other insects love visiting the flowers which are followed in late summer by attractive red berries. Originally found in China, where it grows on forest edges, you should plant your Daphne 'Gemmata Royal Crown' in well-drained soil in a sheltered spot in full or partial sun where it will thrive for many years to come. Height and spread: 75cm (29in). Supplied in 13cm pots.

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Caution: Irritant to skin and eyes. Toxic if eaten. Grow Daphne shrubs in moist, fertile, well drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Choose a position in sun or semi shade. When growing in containers use a soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Daphne plants resent root disturbance so try to avoid this when transplanting as this may delay plant establishment.
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season while young plants become established. Once established, Daphne bushes require only occasional attention. Pruning Daphne is best kept to a minimum, removing only occasional damaged stems and lightly trimming those that spoil the shape of the plant in summer after flowering.
