Masses of flowers and an amazing fragrance too, Daphne odora ‘Sweet Amethyst’ is small, compact and beautifully formed. The purple/pink buds open in early spring to show off the wonderful star shaped blooms that have such a sweet scent! Due to its siz and habit, this lovely daphne is also perfect for growing in patio pots too! Height: 1m (39"). Spread: 1.5m (59").

Caution: Irritant to skin and eyes. Toxic if eaten. Grow Daphne shrubs in moist, fertile, well drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Choose a position in sun or semi shade. When growing in containers use a soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Daphne plants resent root disturbance so try to avoid this when transplanting as this may delay plant establishment.

Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season while young plants become established. Once established, Daphne bushes require only occasional attention. Pruning Daphne is best kept to a minimum, removing only occasional damaged stems and lightly trimming those that spoil the shape of the plant in summer after flowering.
